The Best Bass Fishing Lures for 2024
Are you chasing your PB in 2024? You know we are. We’ve been hard at work researching some new to market and maybe new to you baits that will be standouts in 2024. There’s something for everyone on this list and we make sure to stay ready with these baits. Whether you’re fishing your neighborhood ponds or big clear water lakes, you’re going to want to take a look at this list. Maybe not proven yet, that takes a few years of consistency for us, but these baits are well on their way.
Our Top Picks for 2024
Swimbait: Scottsboro Tackle Co. Swimbaits
The Scottsboro Tackle Co. Swimbaits are expertly crafted in America. These swimbaits are hand-poured and very supple even in colder water conditions, they have a great kicking action. We got to fish the smaller 4″ version and the larger 7″ version both with a thru-head twist jig head. Some of the hardest hitting fish of the year came on this one two punch in the early spring.

Spoon: 6th Sense Divine Flutter Spoon
A great beginner or advanced spoon that we think will be popular in 2024 with such a large push Into fishing with forward facing sonar. This is a no nonsense fairly priced option with great components including the ever important barrel swivel for this tactic. The size of these is a little more minnow sized, digestible for more parts of the country, similar to the Strike King Big Sexy Spoon. Could also imitate a smaller shad. Both good options.

Craw: Rapala Crush City Cleanup Craw
We got a bag of these early in 2023 and went through them quickly. This 3.5″ morsel was designed with Jacob Wheeler’s help and it shows. It has an awesome tight kick similar to a menace grub but a subtle shake as well. This bait was involved with an epic day of catching smallmouth bass. Texas Rigged with 2/0 EWG and 3/8 oz Woo! Bullet weight. Perfect as a trailer for your favorite flipping jig.

Deep Diving Crankbaits: Berkley Dime 10
The two biggest complaints about crankbaits are they don’t run right and their hooks are poor quality. The Flashdisk technology that Berkley started putting in baits like the Frittside, Money Badger and Hit Stick, makes for a true running bait at any speed. Pretty awesome and the Fusion19 hooks are solid. If you’re a fun of covering that mid-depth all year with DT series, you’ll dig this bait. It has similar balsa action but a little extra kick. Consistency and reliability are nice about these. Great fish catching paint schemes too.

Lipless Crank: Lucky Craft LV 500
Do you want to catch largemouth, smallmouth, spotted bass or just straight catch fish all year? This bait flat out gets it done. It has a very tight enticing wobble on retrieve and it’s loud. Bass fisherman like the constantly refreshing paint jobs. This bait has helped me catch a few walleye that tipped the scales toward double digits. As far as fishing this hard bait goes. We like to yo-yo it, fish it in a slow steady cadence with small pops and like spinnerbaits…burn burn pause.

Hard Jerkbait: Megabass Ito Vison 110+1 Jerkbait
Another fish catcher but be willing to pay for it is this Ita Vision 110+1 from Megabass. There are new colors this year but this bait was already a standout. It can be fished with either spinning or casting gear and casts like a dream due to the weight transfer system. Find a cadence the fish like and stick to it. This bait does not need to be overworked and has very light hooks. Bass love to crush this bait, use your drag to not bend them out.

Creature Bait: Berkley Powerbait MaxScent Creature Hawg
Elite Series anglers and pond fisherman are catching big bass with this bait. It has a slimmer profile than other beaver style baits and the MaxScent difference, which seems undeniable at this point. We like this bait in Green Pumpkin or GOAT. This soft plastic really shines as a trailer on a jig or flipping and pitching texas rigged.

Drop Shot Worm: Great Lakes Finesse Drop Worm
Finesse fishing and BFS are gaining popularity around the country. Here in the midwest, one company is doing something others have not. Great lakes Finesse is making baits for ultra finicky, giant smallmouth that roam the great lakes regions. Oh these baits also work quite well for our greenheaded friends the largemouth bass. The neutral buoyancy and bit size nature of this bait, when paired with a #2 or #4 hook on drop shot is going to be hard to beat all year.

Hollow Frog: Savage Gear DC Walker Frog
Topwater frog fishing is some of the most fun you can have bass fishing. The bummer of it is you can miss a lot of fish. Savage Gear came out with this little bite sized 2.3″ toad that still weighs in at 1/2 oz. It casts like a missile; fish have an easy time unloading on this frog.

Ned Rig: Yamamoto Yamatanuki
All the heavy weighted stick baits really hit the scene this year. Poop baits you may see or the ultra salty heavy Yamamoto Yamatanuki. The standard sizes are awesome pre-spawn search baits for pressured fish. The 2.5″ quietly became our favorite ned rig bait. The small tail is always moving even in the dead of winter. Keep in mind, same plastic as the senko, super soft. You can amazing action but go through baits.

Vibrating Jig: Z-Man Big Blade Chatterbait
We have the introduction of a more affordable chatterbait jack hammer with the Z-man Elite EVO. Don’t overlook the Big Blade Chatterbait this coming year. For us the biggest blade has meant better deflection and better than average bass. We stick with the bruised colors, black and blue or green pumpkin and like to fish these around sparse weeds and submerged wood.

Plastic Worm: 6th Sense Boosa Shakey Worm 6.5″
This worm gave us old school french fry vibes at first but the action this worm has make the bait a stellar choice for shakey head, jigworm fishing or weedless drop shot. In a pinch, I had to wacky rig with this worm in a tournament and it saved the day.
